Achilles Tendonitis

Surgical Options

Usually, surgery is the last option doctors at the Florida Hospital Celebration Health Sports Medicine Program will recommend. If friction between the tendon and its covering sheath makes the sheath thick and fibrous, surgery may be required to remove this tissue and repair any tears. Recovery from this surgery is slow, and you may have to wear a temporary cast. A thorough rehabilitation program will be required to strengthen the tendon and surrounding muscles and tissues.
